Imagine A Future
Tamela Mann - Take Me To The King
Why is it that most people describe the Corporate America work
culture as “difficult”? && trust me, the word ‘difficult’ is an
understatement when I consider words I have heard other people use to
describe it!
Struggling to find both happiness && success in corporate America is
the norm not the exception. Almost everybody has issues there &&
most of these issues consist of many outside circumstances that make
their life miserable at work. The boss you can’t get along with. The mean and hateful co-worker. The
deceitful management team. The meetings you no longer are invited to
attend. The job tasks that were suddenly taken away. The job title
change. The new role you were just assigned. The promotion that never
comes to be. The raise you don’t get. The job tasks you hate. The recognition you don’t ever get.
The value that no one perceives you have. The work assignments that
someone else claimed as their own." I can go on, and on about how it has low-key sucked the life out of me."
All of this is compounded by the clock that doesn’t tick fast enough
and the weekend – the only 2 days you live for – that can’t ever get
here soon enough.
What gives? Why do most people seem to live this life at work?
Well, after 6 years working in corporate environments and specifically in call center's as a Customer Service Representative, I left (for the most part) for one or more of those reasons. I left to chase my dreams as a Cosmetologist. Even though it wasn't easy, no one is going to change your life except for you. Only you can create your own circumstances. But to create the powerful
circumstances that you want to call your future – in spite of the
challenges you face in today’s circumstances you have to understand a
few fundamental things about how circumstances work.
Now I won't go into alladat! *laughs! But I say all of this to say I know GOD has amazing thing's in store for my life. My steps are ordered, every decision, agreement I make Is ordered by what GOD has in store for me. && now that I know that ... "I'm finally working in an environment, that's in my career field!" Thanks you GOD, I wanna thank my support team, && everyone whose believed in me. RIP Grandma! I love YOU! #MyBiggestBeliever !! xoxo
Grandma: " That Brittany something else but she's determined, && is AMBITIOUS. I'm proud of her!" She do anything she put her mind to.

My BIG Move to Houston TX !!
![]() |
| Houston, TX |
"It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me && I'm feeling good."
As Of January, 2013 I finally moved to Houston, TX! Today makes 5 months, 13 day's since my BIG MOVE. [Thank you Jesus.] I am very proud and grateful for this opportunity, because w|out GOD it wouldn't have been possible. All the obstacles, struggles, && everything that occurred during my last few months in Port Arthur, could've prevented this move. The enemy messed up my finances, my closes relationships, Carlye[my car] begin giving me problems, && I was laid off my JOB of three years. Lord knows I had to endure so much, preparing for my move.
I cried my eye's out day's upon day's, not knowing what to do to better the situation I was in. Such a heavy burden placed upon me [I almost gave up.] But GOD!! Came through right on time! He made a way out of know way. He provided the necessary funds to make it happen. He connected me to the right sources right when I was ready to throw the towel in. [He Showed Up && Showed Out!]
What A Gentlemen?
I came to WIN! I came to FIGHT! I came to CONQUER!
To PROSPER! To SURVIVE ...to rise!
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
Just a few weeks before my move, I had heard God's voice for myself, for the first time.
In a small still voice he said:
"Brittany, you're moving to Houston... just be patient. You will be attending school to obtain your license as a Cosmetologist... just be patient. Before I can get you there, allow me to take you through something's, use you, heal you && protect you. Brittany, be patient this process, it won't be easy." - January 09, 2013
"- Faith Is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."

- Blogging Absence!
- Pardon My Blogging Absence!
????
I have to apologize for the huge gap in time between my last blog && this one.
I plan to get back to regular blogging SOON!
Now, that I want to get back into the swing of things, Where do I begin, for heaven's sake? *giggles! I hadn't blogged in so long, I didn't know how to start again. Don't get me wrong, plenty of blog posts have traveled through my pretty little brain and onto my notepad.
&& If you are by chance wondering why such a long leave of absence, well allow me explain that to you...
You see, I hadn't posted my last blog since April of 2012, time has passed. A lot has happened in my life since then. *laughs! && when I say a lot, I literally mean A LOT. && ya'll I wish I could fancy thing's up a bit, && make it seem like it's been all peaches and cream but ya'll know that ain't my style. I have been through hell && back!! Not really, but I been growing through a transitional phase, where I have finally accepted GOD as my Lord, && Savior. Which has been was the BEST DECISION I made on my own yet!! "&& Thank GOD, I don't look like what I been through!"
Times have been the most difficult I have ever grown through. The past year have been filled with poor decisions, trial and error, unhealthy relationships, confusion && pain, && our family having to experience the emotional-roller-coaster of finding out my grandma would no longer be with us. Who knew this year would be my break-through year? I didn't.
Needless to say, I had enough.
I know I'm not alone. As trying as the last three years have been for me, I know some people who have dealt with far more for far longer. But that doesn't change the fact that this has been painful for me. In the face of all this, I can honestly say I feel no pressure to be a child of GOD and have the answer for all this. Honestly, even as a child of GOD, I have no answer for this. My questions before GOD about the reality of what my family && me has experienced over the past year are the exact same questions anyone would ask:
Why?
Why not step in?
Why not act?
Why wouldn't you make it right?
Why couldn't you part the clouds and provide a moment for us to catch our breath?
Why everything at once?
Why?"God won't give you more than you can handle." In other words, when we can't do it any longer. When we are fed up. When it has become too much. When have nothing left. When we are empty. When it is beyond our capability to deal with. Then, in that moment, the strength of the God, of resurrection will be seen. Until, you get to that point, you'll rely on thinking you, yourself can handle it and take care of the problem. We have to trust when we are submitted to him--even if we don't understand--he is ordering our steps. If something is not happening on your timetable, remind yourself, "God knows what he is doing." He has my best interest at heart. God is preparing me." While you're waiting, don't make the mistake of trying to figure everything out.
If you're constantly trying to figure thing's out, that will only frustrate you. Turn it over to God. Declare, "God my times are in your hands. I am not going to worry because I trust that you are leading me on a journey or preparation for all the wonderful blessing's you have in store for me."

Lesson For My Future Daughter: Love Your Face... *w|out Makeup
LESSON FOR MY FUTURE DAUGHTER: LOVE YOUR FACE… *-WITHOUT MAKEUP
Thanks to good genes and parents who understood the value of self-confidence, I always held my physical beauty in high regard. As a child and even today, I can’t pass a mirror or any reflective surface without glancing in it. Some would call this behavior vain. I’d say I simply have an appreciation for aesthetically pleasing things and my face happens to be one of them.
Naturally, I always knew that my face wasn’t the best thing about me as a person and eventually I learned that everyone wouldn’t share the same passion I had for my looks. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. But it was cool, I still dug me.
The love affair I had with my face only grew once I started experimenting with makeup. My eyes popped with mascara and eye liner, nobody could tell me that my lips didn’t look especially luscious once they were outlined with a pencil and the mirror and I solidified our bond once my mother started plucking my eyebrows.
I loved my new look! Although I could certainly appreciate the benefits of makeup, I didn’t dive in completely and recklessly. For one, I already loved my natural face but I also feared that I’d become one of those women who appears virtually unrecognizable without the presence of her beauty enhancements.
So while I didn’t wear a full face of makeup everyday, it was rare that I went to school without a coat of mascara, some lip gloss and of course my beloved lip liner. (I’ll admit sometimes I went too far with that.)
By the time I got to college, I was too busy trying to get to class on time to be bothered with my mini make up routine. Mascara was reserved for special occasions. But it was no thang, I still liked and loved my look.
It wasn’t until I graduated from college and started working my first little temp job that I started relying on makeup. Wanting to be taken seriously as an adult and constantly being mistaken for a high school student, it was important that I look the part. For the first time in my life, I was applying makeup religiously, every morning before I left for work and frequently on the weekends. I even started adding blush and bronzer to my once simplistic regimen.
I beat my face every morning but I really wasn’t a fan of the whole process. Fed up, I made a decision that I was going to go a day without it. I went to the bathroom, showered, washed my face, brushed my teeth, did my hair and looked in the mirror, underwhelmed at the sight.
For the first time in my life, the mirror, my friend wasn’t showing me what I expected to see. Suddenly, the beauty I’d always seen wasn’t so impressive. My face looked ordinary, washed out, drab even.
Realizing that this wouldn’t do, I applied some mascara, called it a morning and went back to makeup regimen. A few weeks later, sick again of the process, I attempted to try my original resolution again. No makeup.
Again the mirror wasn’t showing me the image we had agreed upon, but I vowed that I was going to go without, no matter how much the face in the mirror was disappointing me.
So I did. That day and the day after. For a week and then two.
Sometime in that two week stretch I saw my face again, the beautiful face I’d known my whole life.
Through that whole ordeal I learned a value lesson: never rely on makeup to create the beauty you, I, we naturally possess.
No, I haven’t sworn off makeup completely. I still like to enhance my face, like I did in high school. But when I don’t feel like applying makeup before I go to work, I don’t. Even if I wouldn’t necessarily mind putting on a little something extra in the morning, sometimes I go without, just so I don’t lose sight of what’s been there all along.

| My Mom's Semi-permanent eyelashes! |
Semi-permanent eyelash extensions provide longer, fuller, natural looking eyelashes that are expected to last up to 2 months. With semi-permanent eyelash extensions, a professional applies one lash extension at a time onto an existing lash. The entire procedure is said to be very comfortable and relaxing. Once on, the eyelash extensions are weightless and water-proof. The cost typically starts at $200 and can go up depending on the fullness of the extensions. See the application in action in the video below.
Unlike false lashes, eyelash extensions do not feel heavy on your eyelid. False lashes can become weary on the lid and feel heavy. They can also damage the natural lashes and cause them to fall out prematurely. Because an eyelash extension is the exact same as an eyelash, it weighs about as much as a natural lash: practically nothing. You will not notice the addition of the extensions to your lashes, and they will not cause your natural lashes to fall out ahead of their natural cycle.
An eyelash extension will remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out. This can be as long as two months or more. False eyelashes last only about a week at most. Additionally, there are many activities that you cannot do while wearing false eyelashes... swimming, heavy workouts, sometimes even sleeping. With lash extensions, however, it is possible to do any activity that you would normally do. The special adhesive creates a waterproof and sleep proof bond that will not break no matter the level of your physical activity.
"What do you think about the Semi-permanent eyelash extensions?"
20Things a Women Should Do...
I do NOT believe in making New Yr's resolution's. "/ hmph. There is something that jst doesn't sit right w me. Of course I can't hate on anyone for feeling inclined to start the new yr w some resolve, It makes me feel as if I'm operating from deficit mentality. Going in to 2012, I have decided to FOCUS on creating actionable goals. Layde's in 2012 let's challenge ourselves and out sisters *-blood and otherwise) to focus on balancing out strengths and developing our weaknesses in order to ensure that we are truly maximizing out potential. Need some help configuring your list of goals?
*-No Problem...
"here are 20 things we need to be able to do in 2012."
1. Be automatically YOU...
Understand tht you are perfectly imperfect. Are there things you can improve about yourself? ... of course there are. We all deal w something. While naming negative personality flaw is a majr step, it's NOT enough. We must put in work to remedy it.
2. Let GO OF DRAMA...
Some of us like our own movies, issues on the job, tension w a spouse, resentment toward lved ones--in a sick, twisted way. some of us enjoy--and don't know how to live life w out---those thing's. Instead of perpetrating the cycle, explore ways that YOU can help resolve the issue (*or issues. tht blocks you and the other person from peace.
3. Acknowledge That Failure is Simply a Lesson Bo Be Learned, NOT a Road Block To success
failures, setbacks and mistakes are character builders, that give you the tools you need to grow in the future, ultimately helping you do better.. BC you know better.
4. Don't Hold on to Anger
Anger can stunt YOUR personal growth. Layde's you aren't gonna allow something are someone control you, aren't you?
5. Don't Be Afraid to Color OUTSIDE the lines.
If you want to move to a new city, do It! If you want to take a dance class, but have no experience, who cares--take the class! If you want to date someone outside you race, girl do it!
6. Celebrating Every Single one of your Accomplishments
NO matter how big or small celebrate w you reach one of your goals, and plan to accomplish more.
7. Spend time w YOURSELF
Have you ever had dinner alone or gave yourself a solo day of beauti? If NOT, try it. Carving out " Me Time" for yourself is important. You must be in touch w YOU.
8. Mentor A Young Women
What better way to give back to the community, than to volunteer time w a young layde' who could benefit from learning from your experiences?
9. Step Out On FAITH
Everyone preaches, "Let Go, and Let God," but have you really done that? If not 2012 is the yr to make it happen. It's scary, but it's freeing.
10. FORGIVE
Holding grudges only hurts you *-HELLO. Understand that while youre putting yourself thru an emotional breakdwn, the other person is probably NOT concerned.
11. DO SOMETHING THAT YOU'VE BEEN PUTTING OFF
12. Fill Your Spiritual Cup
Whether you go to church every Sunday, or choose to attend Antioch Missionary Baptist Church
find something that feeds your soul.
13. Let Stress motivate you, NOT Debilitate you
Don't allow stress to break you down. If work is stressing you out, figure out what you need to do to make changes.
14. Take a Vacation somewhere that you've never been before
Whether it be London or too France, if you want to go... GO!
15. Take charge of your Physical and Mental Health
Why are we as black women so opposed to seeing a professional for help? Sometimes jst going to church is not enough.
16. Make honesty and Transparency Your Number One Policy
Men Lie, and Layde's we do too. Not to mention, many or us keep secrets that have the ability to really hurt the ones we love if they are not exposed earlier on.
17. Fall In Love
All mean were not made to dog you out. Realize that if you go into a situation putting out that type of energy, that is exactly what the universe w give you.
18. Girl, Get Your Money RIGHT!
As much as we all like to splurge on a good pair of shoes *-Make-Up Junki here!;) or a where-did-you-get-that-from handbag, this yr make a decision to save and invest your $$$.$$ This might mean researching and meeting w a financial advisory or something tht'll fix this BAD HABIT
19. VIEW LIFE AS A JOURNEY NOT A COMPARATIVE PROCESS
So what if your best friend got the husband, house and kids before you did, that doesn't mean you won't get that same thing--maybe there are some character attributes tht you need to gather to really be prepared for all tht. Everything is predestined, and if you believe that, you won't find yourself stressing over what the next has compared to w you have.
20. "Give Thanks BC Anything Else Is Simply Complaining." *Real
